Sustainability

We work for a better tomorrow
At Nordanå Trä AB we process the Swedish forest into high-quality wood products. Wood is a renewable raw material and an important part of a sustainable society. Therefore, we work actively to ensure that our operations are conducted with consideration for both the environment and future generations.
Our sawmill in Alfta is adapted to the traceability requirements of the international certification systems FSC® and PEFC. Through these systems we can ensure that the raw material we use comes from responsibly managed forests.
We strive to minimize our environmental impact and contribute to sustainable forestry by:
Work for long-term and environmentally friendly forestry.
Follow current requirements and guidelines within FSC® and PEFC.
Ensure traceability throughout the supply chain.
Continuously develop our environmental work and improve our processes.
We do not accept wood from:
Illegal logging.
Forests with high conservation values.
Areas where traditional or civil rights are violated.
Forests where genetically modified trees are used.
Natural forests that have been cleared to be replaced by plantations or other land uses.
Exceptions can be made for measures within key biotopes where logging takes place with the aim of strengthening natural values and is carried out in accordance with the recommendations of the Swedish Forest Management Authority.
Our environmental work is characterized by a holistic approach where we strive for continuous improvement. Through skills development and clear routines, we ensure that employees who work with our FSC® and PEFC certifications have the right knowledge about environmental management and how the operations affect the environment.
All our employees should be aware of our environmental policy and participate in our work for sustainable and responsible forestry.

Our Certificates
At Nordanå Trä we actively work towards responsible and sustainable forestry. Our operations meet the requirements of the international certification systems FSC® and PEFC, which ensures that the raw materials we use come from forests that are managed with consideration for the environment, people and long-term sustainability.
The certifications mean that we can guarantee traceability throughout the entire supply chain, from forest to finished wood product. Independent auditing ensures that both forestry and production meet clear requirements for responsibility, quality and sustainability.
This is an important part of our work to deliver high-quality wood products while contributing to the sustainable use of forest resources.
